Motorola
Jan 1995-Jan 2000
Software Engineer
Worldwide Software Verification and Validation, Cellular Infrastructure Group Arlington Heights, IL and Ft. Worth, TX
Summary: Lead cross functional teams to develop test automation software and processes. Performed Analysis and Design of automation tools.
Lead project manager for projects spanning multiple teams and locations. Team lead on several quality and process improvement teams.
- The large portion of my experience has been from Motorola. Motorola provided me with many valuable experiences. Of these experiences I would
say that the most beneficial has been my exposure to software development practices of a large company. I was fortunate to be involved in many software development process improvement activities. These activities ranged
from software CMM, to six-sigma quality assurance, to total customer satisfaction activities. I had the opportunity to work with several of Motorola's managers and leaders and in developing improved software testing
processes. I also had the opportunity to be the primary advocate and coordinator of the testing automation activities. I was able to use the Intranet at Motorola to improve the quality and effectiveness of these activities.
Below I have summarized some of the highlights of the various positions that I held while I was at Motorola.
- Software System Verification and Validation - This involved system level testing of analog & CDMA cellular software, including feature
testing, reliability/stability testing, and requirements review. Through this activity I have obtained experience in both domestic and international infrastructures and protocols. I also participated in software deployment
activities for several of Motorola's customers.
- Worldwide System Test Automation Coordinator - This involved the coordination, installation, and training for several automated testing
tools. I also was an active participant and driver in the development of worldwide policies and practices as related to automation and Software System Test. My responsibilities included direct project management and systems
analysis/design with regards to several automation tool development efforts.
- Worldwide System Test Liaison - This involved acting as a liaison between all Software System Test facilities and also between Software
System Test and the various tools groups. I had the opportunity to be the team leader for several Total Customer Satisfaction teams with a primary goal of decreasing cycle time through reuse and communication enhancements
using CMM and SEI methodologies.
- Software Project Management - I was the primary project manager for automated test tool development involved in the test planning for two
major system software cycles.
- I was involved in the development of many web based tools for use by testing organizations in Motorola. Many of these tools integrated with
proprietary systems as well as UNIX databases and applications.
